Brothers and Sisters,
The UAW Local 145 Children’s Christmas Party was held Saturday, December 10th. A good time was had by all who attended. Corndogs were the specialty of the day as well as hotdogs chips and cookies. Everyone enjoyed the special presentation put on by the Aurora High School Drama Club. After the play the children were entertained with crafts and cookie decoration until the guest of honor arrived and then they had their picture taken with Santa. The coloring contest will be judged by the members who attend the Membership Christmas Party this Friday, December 16th. The event was sponsored by the UAW Local 145 Standing Committees. Thanks to all who helped because events like this would not be possible without it.
UAW Local 145 has lost a dedicated and lifelong member. We received word that retiree Roland (Ron) Sondgeroth passed away on December 8, 2011 after a bout with cancer. His funeral services were held Monday, December 12th. Ron was very active in this union for many years. After his retirement on January 1, 1990 he became an officer of the Retiree Chapter and was elected Chairman from 2002 to 2008. He was also on the Executive Board of the Region 4 Retirees and very active in political action and various committees throughout the years. He will be missed by all of us. Please keep his wife Wilma and family in your prayers.

Several members have expressed interest in purchasing Carhartt Jackets with the UAW wheel embroidered on the back as we have done in the past. We have checked with our vendors and found that Carhartt is no longer made in the U.S.A. Therefore we would be looking at a comparable King Louie (Cumber Land Brand) which looks identical to the Carhartt. These are hooded and thermal lined and can be ordered either black or duck brown. Prices will be approximately $100 - $125 for the jacket with the large red/white UAW wheel on the back and a small logo on the left chest. You can add your name to the right chest for an additional fee. A $100 deposit will be required when ordering. Call Kim Trout (630) 896-9370 with any questions or to place an order.
As we all begin making plans for the holidays, please remember when at work to keep your mind on your job. Don’t let your mind wonder off to what you’ll be doing with your family and leave yourself exposed to accident or injury. We want our members to go home from work the same way they came in, with all their fingers and toes! The last thing your family wants this season is for you to get hurt or injured on the job. Stay focused while at work and go home safe at the end of the day.
