TEAM REPORT FOR THE WEEK JANUARY 22, 2012

Brothers and Sisters,

Steward Training is scheduled for Unit #1 on Friday January 27, 2012. All stewards are strongly encouraged to attend and bring their contract book. There have been three sessions scheduled throughout the day to accommodate all three shifts. Stewards have been sent invitations in the mail for this important training. This training will be specific to the new contract language. Other topics to be covered are; recognizing each member’s role in grievance handling, Weingarten Rights, work first grieve later, importance of documentation, obtaining relevant information, just cause and much more. If you have any questions about this training contact your Committeeman or Bargaining Chairman Joe Morel.

Mark your calendars, the February Membership Meeting will be on Sunday the 19th and it will be quite a busy day. The annual election for a new Election Committee will be held and after the meeting. Check the postings in the shop and this newspaper for more details. Also keep an eye open for standing committee meetings as these committees will be meeting to schedule upcoming events.

Think you make the best chili? Now is your chance to prove it and win a prize! The Fox River Valley CAP Council is hosting a chili cook-off and a meet and greet with some of the political candidates that will be running in the upcoming elections.  The chili cook-off will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.  Call the Union Hall at (630) 896-9370 by February 15th to register your entry. Tickets will be available at the door for $5.00. Come meet local candidates and cast your vote for the best chili.

There have been many questions on the “2012 Available Vac Pay” listed on Caterpillar check stubs this year. This is the amount of vacation pay that will be available during the year. This should total the percentage of 6%, 8% or 10%, depending on your seniority, of regular wages earned the prior year. Keep in mind not all income in the previous year is regular pay. Ratification bonus, Vacation pay, Lump-sum, ST Disability, Overtime Recalc or Legal Services are not considered regular pay. This will be paid out in one day increments as your vacation time is used.

In Solidarity.
