FAQ #1: What is a union?

Answer #1: A union is an organization of employees formed to bargain with the employer.

FAQ #2: What does solidarity mean?

Answer #2: Solidarity is a bond of unity between individuals, united around a common goal or against a common enemy, such as the unifying principle that defines the labor movement; Willingness to give psychological and/or material support when another person is in a difficult position or needs affection.

FAQ #3: How do I get involved?

Answer #3: There are several ways to get involved. The easiest way to get involved is to attend the monthly membership meetings. You can also get involved by joining a standing committee.

FAQ #4: When are the membership meetings?

Answer #4: The membership meetings are held on the third Sunday of each month and begin at 2:00 p.m.

FAQ #5: What are the standing committees?

Answer #5: Local Union Standing Committees are the tools through which the policies and programs aimed at strengthening our union are put to work.  These committees support UAW members by implementing activities that further the social, economic and political goals of the UAW.  Local Union Standing Committees are made up of individuals who may have a special interest or strength in a particular area or they may just want to learn more about a subject and find a way to contribute to the labor movement.
