Annual open enrollment for healthcare benefits will take place from November 19 through December 3 for active members. And November 15 through November 29 for retirees.
If you would like to ask a question, review steps for enrollment or watch a presentation video you can do this online by going to cathealthbenefits.com and click on the annual enrollment button. If you don't have internet access you can call the Caterpillar annual enrollment hotline at 1-800-447-6434 Monday through Friday, 6:30 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. central time and use the key words annual enrollment.
Please be sure to have your pin number and the Social Security numbers of all your dependents ready before you call to enroll.
When it is time for you to enroll in Medicare you should sign up for Part A and Part B. There is no need to sign up for Part D (prescription drug coverage) at this time. There is a cost for Part B but Caterpillar reimburses that cost up to $99.00. The reimbursement comes in July for the first six months of the year and January for the last six months of the year. You must call Hewitt at 1-877-228-4010 to sign up for the reimbursement.
While you are working, your Caterpillar medical insurance, whether it is through United Healthcare , Health Alliance HMO, or BC/BS HMO,is your primary insurance and Medicare is your secondary insurance . Once you retire, Medicare becomes your primary insurance with Caterpillar insurance as your secondary . At this point Caterpillar insurance will only pay after Medicare has been billed and paid their portion
